I don't think so. He stuck by him in first year and they wouldn't have gotten everywhere if he hadn't won that chess game. Then he went to the Chamber with him too! He's stuck with him when it mattered most, and that's fine with me. I mean he DID repent in the 4th book. He was definitely a jerk to Hermione during the ball and stuff but I know where that anger stems from. Imagine being in love with your best friend and being absolutely convinced she'd pick a famous, good-looking man who plays for a fancy Quidditch team and is one of the champions too. He didn't have to say anything nasty to her, but I get why he was angry.
Ron's the type of guy who does things without thinking then repents almost immediately. And honestly, he has some really awesome moments. =D

: ) 89% eh? odd number XD
I don't have any story ideas with Luna. Actually, I have one, but it ships Luna/Snape of all things. Not something I'd normally ever pair, but its a very odd story with unique situations. The characters asked for it. Not my doing it all.
Hermione / Ron - It's that I don't find it believable. I just don't know how good of a relationship they would have, and I think Ron holds Hermione back from her potential.
As far as Ron's treatment of Hermione in GOF, he wasn't in love with her. He didn't even THINK about asking her until there was no one else. And if he was super interested, he should have at LEAST asked her out in Year 5. Anyway, sure, part of jealous could have stemed from him liking Hermione; the other part is just Ron being a jealous type of person. Ron does come around when it matters most, but I don't think that excuses him for his immaturity and explosiveness.
Is it weird that Harry/Ginny kids are named James and Lily? And Lily is the only one with red hair....

O.o Luna/Snape? That's certainly an odd pairing. But you can probably make it work. =)
It doesn't excuse him but I just feel that lot of people don't appreciate him at all. They have a negative view of him that they're adamant on not changing. I just think he's not very well understood and sorta sidelined by most.
Maybe that's why she had Ginny and Harry pair up. Because then they could have black and red haired children and call them James and Lily

I read one Luna/Draco fic that brought tears to my eyes. It was so beautifully written!
Well, we all know I hate Ron and I honestly don't know why. I think it's because I find him annoying. But meh....

I don't really like Harry/Ginny for the main reason that I feel like J.K. was trying to make them like James and Lily. I don't like that they named their kids that either. Middle name, sure, but they need their own identity.

Ron kind of reminds me of my sister lol. I don't not like him, but he's not one of my favourites either, though. But just reading euca's comment now made me realize that my sister and Ron have some similarities XD.
Also, yeah same here Twiny. It got on my nerves that she did that? I don't know why really, it just did. I felt like it was kind of cheesy and like...overdone, I guess? Like, I get maybe her and Harry being similar to James and Lily but then their kids too just. That seemed like it was dragging it out a bit much lol. But also the names they had for their kids were kind of odd anyway lol. Cute and it made sense but I felt bad for some of them lol.

I think the kids shouldn't have like a first name and a middle name. They should have just been named Sirius, Severus and Lily. Or Albus. *shrugs*

Yeah, for some reason the way she did the 19 years later just bugged me.
Do you not like middle names, euca?

I choose to not count the epilogue as anything in my mind. 100% EWE? XD
I don't mind having characters with middle name, but I think with Harry's kids they were overdone. And it's like Ginny had NO say in those kids names; they were all named after Harry's family/friends (with the exception of Severus, but Harry's the one who ended up respecting him too). I would have rather that Harry had named one kid Severus and the other two just random names after no one, maybe with "James" and "Lily" as the MIDDLE names.
Regardless, the epilogue is way to idealistic for me. Like I said before, I think that was partly Rowling's point. She felt bad for putting Harry threw so much, so she gave him gets the perfect family. Even with the pairing choices of him and Ginny and Ron/Hermione. Gah.

No, I like them but like Jewel said, it was overdone in this case. And yeah, I didn't care much for the epilogue either.

Man I feel like I missed the boat on this convo but I just read the whole thing through so I wanted to respond.
As far as what I read, I pretty much only read Severus/Hermione these days! I used to think it was so weird, but somewhere along the line I just fell in love with them together. I have such a soft spot for Snape and I feel like Hermione is so headstrong and so brilliant, she pairs well with Snape who needs a partner who can both stand up to him, and who is intelligent enough to earn his respect. I know in canon, it would NEVER happen, but in fanfic, it works beautifully.
I cannot, however, decide who I like Harry with for the life of me! This is so frustrating, because when I'm writing, I almost can't see him as a romantic figure. I guess it works because what I mainly write is Snape/Harry Father/Son (although I've dabbled in SSHG) so romance isn't really necessary, but it is inevitable! I had originally planned to stick with the original pairings in my story, but I can't see it anymore. I don't see Ron and Hermione together. It seemed unnatural in the books. Same with Ginny and Harry, I suppose. I think it would be hard to fall in love with someone you grew up with. They all seem more like siblings to me than romantic partners! It didn't bother me in the book because you always knew JK was headed that way, but I don't think those ships come together naturally in fanfiction.
I feel like a lot of people hate this, but sometimes I can see Harry and Hermione together, especially when I'm writing. I've never made the leap, but she's the only female character I can really see him with. He doesn't really let Ginny in, but Hermione always seems to understand him. Now that you all mention it, I suppose Hermione and I might not be friends in real life (although I hate to think that) but I DO love her. I used to think she was so annoying, and over time she just became one of my favorites. The poor thing doesn't realize how annoying and overbearing she is, and she just gets her feelings hurt so bad by the boys all the time, I can't help but find her like-able, no matter her flaws.
Same with Ron! I used to find him so frustrating, but lately I do find him to be great comedic relief. He can make such an ass of himself, but that's just Ron for you. He's another character I don't consider romantic, though.
Sometimes I think the problem is that JKR wrote the characters to be almost asexual, in the books. Sure, those feelings grew later, but they just seemed unnatural to me. It's the nature of children's literature, I suppose. I much prefer the romance in fanfic. So much more room to play!

I agree! That's why I like fanfiction so much because you can basically almost do whatever you want with ships and everything. I think that's also why I like AUs so much because you don't even have to keep everything like it is in canon, it can just be whatever you want.
Also, I feel like with most fandoms just in general, I hardly ever ship that many canon ships. I always go for non-canon ships lol. But I just think they're more interesting, I guess, because you have to find little things that support your ship lol.
I feel like Snape and Hermione is a really popular HP ship? I feel like I just see it everywhere idk. And Harry/Hermione. Although, I agree, I can't really see Harry with anyone romantically. And you have a really good point that it's almost like JKR's wrote her characters like asexual. At least with the younger characters like Harry and Ron and Hermione and everyone else who's a student.

Like I said earlier, I can't really identify that one defining characteristic in Harry so I don't know what kind of woman to pair him with. No one seems to fit right. Luna seems to fit better than most, and when you think about it, Hermione and Harry make a better couple than Harry and Ginny.
I haven't read any Hermione/Snape fanfics and they may be nice, but I prefer reading Snape as a mentor and not really as a romantic figure. I think I would create a totally new character to be with Snape.

Crystall- SSHG is definitely a popular ship. There's a whole site full of those fics, Ashwinder. I love to read them but I tend to write more than I read. I always feel like if I have the time to read fanfic, I have time to write an update or time to read something for school!
Euca- what mentor fics have you read? I'm wondering if I've seen any of them. The first fanfic I ever read was Resonance. I definitely did not start out seeing Snape as a romantic figure, that's for sure. It's something that happened over time.
