What are your favorite books (aside from Harry Potter)? Any recommendations? What are you currently reading?

I recommend Delirium by Lauren Oliver. It's fantastic. Also: Divergent, A Great and Terrible Beauty, the Sophomore Switch, The Iron King.... I can't think of anymore right now.
I'm currently reading The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson. It's the sequel to 13 Little Blue Envelopes.

Delirium is all right. I was disappointed with Divergent (and Insurgent). Perhaps I expected too much... The pacing just seemed off. And like Gryffindor, Dauntless - or bravado - is portrayed to be the best, which annoys me. I amuse myself comparing the factions to Harry Potter; they aren't otherwise similar.
Lord of the Rings are some of my favorite books of all time.
I don't really have any current book recommendations, unless anyone is into philosophy and spirituality.

I am currently reading The Two Towers (Lord of the Rings #2), Hunted (House of Night #5), and Lifted Upwards. I've got to stop reading more then one book at a time.
I would recommend Incarceron, and it's sequel Sapphique. Both have a mix of adventure, romance, mystery, action, and fantasy.
I haven't read Divergent but I heard about it in English class. To me it sounded a lot like the Hunger Games which I enjoyed so I might take a chance at it.

I can't read more than one fiction book at one time. I just can't. I do usually read 4-5 non-fiction at once, though. Mostly because I loose my attention span reading straight through those.
Hunger Games was a great book. Surprisingly so. I didn't expect to enjoy it because of its bleak nature, but it was really well done. I know all the reviews compare Divergent to Hunger Games, but aside from them both being a dystopia future, the stories are not that much alike.
Speaking of dystopia futures, has anyone read the Gone series? My library just got in the last book "Light," so I put it on hold to get. So freakin' excited. If you like supernatural thrillers, I highly recommend those books.

I'm reading the Perks of Being a Wallflower right now! It's great. :3 I would recommend the Artemis Fowl series. They're targeted at a younger audience, but they are REALLY good. I'm reading the last one right now. Also... The Paranormalcy Trilogy. Also targeted at a slightly younger audience than most of the people here are, but once again, brilliant. Hunger Games is AMAZING. I'd recommend the Mortal Instruments series as well. And I've read the first book in the "Matched" trilogy by Alli Condie (I think that's her name...), and it's great. I need to read the rest of them.. My sister just read a book called "The Selection" which she enjoyed quite a bit. My neighbor, who doesn't care much for reading, read it as well and loved it. So, there are my recommendations. At least until I think of some more. XD

The Hunger Games was recommended to me by a friend who got the first one for me for Christmas. It was a good series, but my favourite was the second, my least favourite was the last book.
I've heard a lot of good things about The Perks of Being a Wallflower but I've never gotten around to reading it. That might be because I just went yard-saleing and now I have a shelf full of books to read.
Artemis Fowl is another series I thought about reading but never did.
This time I would recommend The Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris D'Lacey. They are targeted at a younger audience but I enjoy them.

I have Matched by Allie Condie, I just haven't read much into it yet.
Paranormalcy is a good book! I'm working on the sequel.
I am really big on dystopian novels. The Hunger Games is another one I really like. I want to read the Selection! It's on my wish list on Amazon.com.

I haven't been able to read the sequel to Paranormalcy yet, but I know I loved the first one. Man... Can I just say that I LOVE Reth?? :3 I really have no reason for it at all except that he's a sexy mysterious fairy. XD
Haha. Dystopian novels seem to be 'in' lately. It's like Bye bye vampires!
Oh! Another series that is really good are the Ranger's Apprentice novels. I only read the first three and stopped because I didn't have the time, but what I read were amazing. :3

Tales of the Shadowmen - it is a group of books that is a massive crossover of every public domain fictional character set in a fictional universe and very complicated family tree. For example one chapter stared - Auguste Dupin (Detective created by Edgar Allan Poe), John Watson, and Doctor Jeckel. Then next chapter starred a stand-in for "Doctor Who" (legally they could not use Doctor Who, but they can use someone that acts like him.)

I suggest The Song of Achilles. It's a beautiful, very gay, re-writing of The Iliad. It's one of my favorite books, even though it makes me unspeakably angry.
The Book Thief is also a very good book about a little girl growing up in WWII Germany

Currently reading "The Dracula Tape" by Fred Saberhagen......again. Got hook on this book several years ago due to my husband recommending it to me. Also, "The Vampire Tales" by Saberhagen.
