Introduction
Hi, Welcome to Charms! Most of you know me as the headmistress (or perhaps some other title before then), but this term I will teaching charms for the first time. You can call me Jewel or Professor Leigh or Headmistress Leigh (always wanted to write that). Anyway, we’ll be in this together for the next 4 months. I hope we can have fun together and learn a thing or two about spells and life.
Required Text
The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1
Methods of Instruction
All of the lessons will hands-on followed by question and answer.
Class Policy
I expect students to be respectful towards me and towards each other, as on par with the general rules of this site. Although I encourage doing research for the answers to your assignments, I do not want you simply copying and pasting your answers from another site. Likewise, cheating (direct copying) off of another student will result in a “Dreadful” or “Troll” grade with possible point deduction.
Even though this is a class for fun, a scholar's mindset leaves no room for plagiarism or cheating. Be life scholars and always give it your original best! That is all I ask of you.
Attendance
Good news! This class has no attendance policy. There’s no deadlines for any assignments, and you can do them at your own pace! In fact, even if you don’t finish all the assignments in this term, next term you will be able to pick up right where you left off.
Grading
The grades for the class are based on a OEAPDT system
O-Outstanding
E-Exceeds Expectations
A-Acceptable
P-Poor
D-Dreadful
T-Troll
O - Have completed the entire assignment (all questions); answers are well-thought out and thorough.
E - Have completed most of the assignment (at least two questions); answers are reasonable
A - Have completed part of the assignment (at least 1 question); answers are adequate
P - Did not complete assignment, answers are poorly written, insufficient, or incorrect
D - Answers are blatantly incorrect or contained plagiarism
T - Answers were plagiarized or contained spam
Points
Most assignments will be graded on a 10 point scale (10 being the highest amount of points earned with possible bonus points). A grade O is worth 10 point, E is 8 points, A is 6 points, P is 2 points, D is 0 points, and T is -2 points.
If assignment is worth a different amount of points, it will be stated so in the lesson.
