This might be useful for some of you. All of this information was derived from the HP Lexicon.
Alihotsy leaves:
When eaten, they cause hysteria
Ashwinder eggs:
Laid by serpents born from magical fires. They are a brilliant red, and give off great heat. They must be frozen immediately, or they will burst into flames. The frozen ones are in great demand for the making of love potions, and to be eaten whole for ague. As there are no actual offspring in the eggs, the name is misleading.
Augurey feathers:
Called the Irish phoenix, its green/black feathers repel ink. Bird makes a mournful cry at the approach of rain.
Billywig:
Is about ½ inch long, and so rarely noticed. Has a long sting, the venom of which causes giddiness and levitation in wizards. Australian youths will use it for a high. Dried, the stings are used in potions and in fizzing whizbees. Because of the hallucinogenic properties, the venom within the stings is used to counteract the inhibitory effect of other ingredients. If the potions in question were not balanced, damage to the delicate brain chemistry would result.
Bundimuns:
The wizarding equivalent of termites, they tend to ooze into the floors of a house and infest the rooms. Their acidic secretion rots away the building, giving off a foul odour. Mobile, it feeds on dirt and dust. Resembles a greenish patch of fungus, and can be killed with scouring charms. The secretion can be diluted and used for cleaning solutions.
Chizpurfle
Insect-like pests that feed on magical substances(like potions). Can be killed with specialized pest potions.
Doxy
Poisonous fairy. If bitten, one should be treated with antidote.
Dragon
Parts used are hide, blood, heart, liver and horn. Romanian Longhorn dragons are especially prized for their horn. Dragon-skin clothes are usually made from Swedish Short-snout hide.
Erumpent
Much like a long-tailed rhino. Horn contains fluid that explodes when injected. Horn, tail, and fluid all used in potions.
Fire Crab
Resembles a tortoise with a jewelled shell. Often killed for the beautiful shell, which some use as a cauldron.
Flobberworm
Boring, nearly stationary animal. Used to thicken potions.
Glumbumble:
Grey, furry insect that feeds on nettles and lives in caves. It produces treacle that will induce melancholy and is therefore an antidote to Alihotsy leaves.
Graphorn
Rather like that thing that Obi-Wan rode in RotS. Ridden by Mountain trolls, and is very aggressive. The horn is used in many potions, but is naturally very expensive.
Jobberknoll
Tiny blue bird. At death, it screams, the sound consisting of every sound it has ever heard played backward. The feathers are used in truth serums and memory potions.
Lobalug
Magical hydra, potent poison used in potions. Venom is controlled by MoM.
Mackled Malaclaw
Looks like a lobster, but is poisonous. Its bite will cause the bitten to be very unlucky for a period of time. Is an antidote to Felix Felicis
Murtlap
Ratlike creature with a growth on its back resembling an anemone. The growths give protection against jinxes if consumed. Overconsumption results in purple ear hair.
Phoenix
Tears have powerful healing qualities
Re’em
Rare golden oxen. Their blood gives enormous strength to the drinker. However, it is rarely for sale due to scarcity.
Runespoor
Eggs are valuable as PI because they are a main ingredient in ‘smart’ potions. The potions stimulate mental agility.
Salamander
Blood has powerful curative and restorative properties.
Unicorn
Horn, blood, and hair are powerfully magical.
