This week, your prompt is: Fortune[/size]
You know the rules -- write exactly 100 words - no more, no less; keep it PG-13; spell check before you post; and ensure that your drabble takes place in the Harry Potter universe, though it may be as AU as you like.
And lastly, have fun!

Harry was angry. Luna had sent him a deck of Tarot cards for Christmas – one of the few divination methods that Harry could actually tolerate – and he wanted to use them. After announcing that he wanted to give someone a reading, everyone who was at headquarters had laughed at him.
“Want to tell me my fortune about how fortunate I am going to be, coming into a fortune of money?” a rather drunk Sirius had said.
Who, apparently sobered, was standing in front of him now.
“How about that fortune, Harry?” he asked seriously and Harry gave him a smile.

Draco glared at the Gryffindor table, furious beyond belief that it had happened again. Every year, Gryffindor won the House cup, and it was always because of that half-wit Potter. Draco couldn't stand it! His House did everything it could to put themselves in the lead, and every year, it looked like they had succeeded.
But no.
From out of nowhere comes some grand adventure, (the kind legends are made of, and why did none of these legend-making stunts ever happen to him?!), and several hundred points.
“Fortune favors the brave” …it was enough to make him sick.

"By accident of fortune a man may rule the world for a time, but by virtue of love he may rule the world forever." ~ Lao Tzu For a long time after defeating Voldemort, he was a hero. Now Harry was just a media target. He shuffled papers around on his desk and tried concentrating, but it wasn't working. His mind was fixed on the latest scandal dreamed up by media goons.
As Harry packed up and apparated home, he decided he wouldn’t let it get to him. Draco looked up and grinned. Harry smiled, Draco was all he needed.

Harry rolled his eyes in annoyance it would have to be the fortune tellers booth that ,Ginny dragged him to wouldn't it. “Would you like your fortune told deary?” A withered old woman who strangely reminded him of Dumbledore asked.
“Please?” begged Ginny bringing her hand together and making a puppy face at the old woman.
The old woman smiled almost in a creepy way before shuffling her cards, “You will have much luck in the near future; also you can be expecting a bundle of great joy in the next eight months.”
Harry fainted as the words sunk in.

Fortune, Fate, Destiny, whatever you called her, defiantly had it out for him. Not only did his father abandon him, but he was also born in an orphanage. Then, when he had finally had the other kids too terrified of him to bully him, Dumbledore had come and watched his every move. And when he had grown so powerful that people feared to even say his name, some sniveling baby had disembodied him. Now, FINALLY, he had gotten a body, until that same, pill-box of a kid, had destroyed him. AGAIN. He just couldn't get ahead. Fortune definitely hated him.

Harry had always been very fortunate.
He was fortunate that an old man thought to leave him with a seemingly happy couple that locked him away for his childhood.
He was fortunate that he went off to an enchanted place full of magic and hopeful opportunities that led to death and tragedy.
He was fortunate that he met so many friends from his parents memories – friends that would hold his affections in the palms of their hands so tightly that when they disappeared, so did a piece of his heart.
Yes.
Harry never rolled any dice.
But he lost anyways.

She wondered what it all amounted to. She had it all. Everything she had worked so hard for. Everything she thought mattered. Fame. Everyone knew her name. Everyone knew what she had done. Everyone wanted to shake her hand. Fortune. She was the richest witch this side of the Atlantic. She could buy anything she wanted. Except the ONE thing she wanted. She couldn't buy him. As she sat by his hospital bed, and watched his chest slowly rise and fall. The steady beep of the machines keeping rhythm with his breathing. Hermione Granger wondered what it all amounted to.
