What is a 'drabble'?
A drabble is an extremely short piece of fiction, exactly 100 words in length. It is a chance for writers (or even all those non-writers) to showcase their talent and use of creative expressions in order to bring out their best, while working in an extrememly confined space.
Its purpose is brevity, and to teach you the importance of using the right words to express the right ideas.
How does this contest work?
Every Monday, I will post a new prompt here. For all those brave enough to try it, you will have exactly one week to do your best and enter your drabble in the contest.
Editing and modifying your drabbles is allowed, as long as it's done within the timeframe of one week. The contest will be closed Sunday night, and the winner announced the next morning.
What does the winner get? What if I don't win? Will I get anything?
For winning, you get 25 points for your House, as well as 25 galleons for yourself. Even if you don't win, but still participate, you'll get 10 points for your House.
However, if you win, then you wouldn't get the participation points as well. For example, if "Mr. X" wins the drabble contest, he'd get 25 galleons and 25 house points, but he won't get the 10 participation points.
Can the same person win twice in a row?
Sure, if the drabble is worthy of winning, and manages to attain the highest score, according to the judging criteria.
Is it always going to be 100 words? No exceptions?
There will be some days when I get bored of reading 100 word drabbles, and wish for something more longer. Then I will post a "double drabble" contest, which will have a word limit of 200 words, instead of the usual hundred. Naturally, the points will also be doubled, in that case. The winner would receive 50 points (and galleons!) and participation points would be 20 per entry.
How do I know if I've won? Will you PM me?
No, sorry. Instead of PMing the winner, I will simply post the winning drabble in the "Past Winners -- The Winning Entries!" thread. The galleons will be added to your account, and points will be added to the House Cup.
Any questions I've missed? Still got a doubt? Post your queries below!
